It's a bouncing baby bowling ball

It's time for yet another installment in the series Irrational Fears Proven Not So Irrational Thanks to a Story Linked on Fark. This one comes to us courtesy of Spain!

A Colombian woman has given birth to a 15-pound baby, the largest in 40 years in Madrid's main maternity hospital.

The 38-year-old mother, identified only as Rosario, had gestational diabetes _ which can cause women to give birth to larger-than-usual babies _ and a track record. Her first daughter, now nine, weighed five kilos (10.2 pounds) at birth.

The new baby's father, Juan Carlos, said that with another woman he had a daughter that weighed 17 pounds at birth. "They told me it is genetic," he told reporters.

I love the double entendre here: That the only thing that could produce such big fat babies was a big fat ... you get the idea.

Anyway, it's tough enough to imagine something weighing rougly 7 pounds in my gut, wanting to break free. But 15 pounds? Try and convince the poor mother that God's not some sort of gnostic prankster.
