Thank you for visiting
Nick came down yesterday to hang out and deliver me an illegally made DVD of the first season of Extras. We went to the Soul Fish Cafe to have lunch (I had my usual chicken po boy and he had the blackened catfish) and then saw Thank You For Smoking, which is still playing at Studio on the Square.
I thought it was really funny, moreso than many reviews gave it credit for. "Rock on, Kennedy" has to be the funniest line in a movie this year. As I told Nick (and, in his Nick way, he scoffed at the thought), I was a little scared of Aaron Eckhart's chin (that kind of chin is why Scott Bakula never had much of a big-screen career) but I thought the film was otherwise a nice little farce, even with Katie Holmes involved. (I'm not sure when this was filmed, but if it was before she and Crazy Cruise got together, I think it's evidence that she might have been crazy and vacant for longer than we the world thought, because she seems a little lifeless and like some sort of Stepfordized automaton in this flick; I kept rooting for Nick Naylor to get with the booze lady, who was obviously a better match for him.)
After the movie, we headed to Phil's to hang for a bit, and then out to Mezcal so Phil could get some dinner. We munched on chips and salsa and Nick drank a ginormous margarita, which made him totally drunk enough to talk about immigration and racism in a raised voice.
We spent the rest of the evening at my place, watching Extras, which, like The Office, you really have to pay attention to to get. I love Maggie and Stephen Merchant's agent character. Can't wait to see the next six episodes.

I want to come down for a weekend! When are you free?
Yay! Sundays and Mondays are my regular off days, but this weekend I think I'm going to the parents' for Memorial Day/my grandmother's birthday. So any weekend after that should be fine.
If we make it in the not-to-distant future, I can ask for a Saturday off so we can have a real Sat/Sun weekend. Just let me know which you'd rather do.
Hello,

So I'm short of English.
