Sometimes I want to pinch Christopher Hitchens' cheek
Because he writes stuff like this:
Bloody brilliant.
Next time you hear some particularly moralizing speech, set your watch. You won't have to wait long before the man who made it is found, crouched awkwardly yet ecstatically while the cistern drips and the roar of the flush maddens him like wine.
Bloody brilliant.

i will never apologize for adoring christopher hitchens. anyone who can take mother teresa to task (missionary position) is alright by me. who next - the girl scouts? if you haven't read his tirade against women comediennes, you must:

what's even funnier than the article is the responses in the next issues from irate women and hitchens' rebuttal which clarifies, at least in his mind, why we're so not funny.
i should hate this man but i love him so.
Yeah, that whole women-can't-be-funny-because -they-have-uteruses-and- there's-nothing-funny- about-childbirth business rubbed me the wrong way. That was his point, no doubt.
I go back and forth on him. Some of what he writes is spot-on; some other things seem totally out of character and asinine. But on the whole I respect his opinions.
