Call me crazy

But I thought the president's speech tonight was fine. He actually said that he is responsible for the muck-ups, and — at least during the portion I heard at work — there were no hilarious Bushisms or syntactical errors for cynical lowlifes (such as myself) to get all fluttery about. The speech was subdued, serious, and bereft of the cocky posturing that has defined Bush's entire political existence up until this moment.

I am not qualified to say whether his commitment of 20,000 more troops is a good call; all I know is that whatever is happening now is not working and, while Democrats may protest and say, "Well, this is just unacceptable," I've not heard any substantial plans coming from them that will help solve the current conflict.

I don't know if the president's "troop surge" is the right thing to do. I just know that the Dems — who I find myself sympathizing with more often than not — need to STFU unless they've got some grand ideas to add to the suggestion box. Impotent whining was cute when we were outnumbered and lacking power; now it just seems petty.

I also thought so. Well, that is to say I wasn't bothered by the sound bytes I heard on NPR this morning. Heh.

I'm not up for spurting more troops, but I liked the promise to pull out.

I don't understand where he's going to find these troops. Is he going to magically pull them out of his ass?

Although, you took on the traditionally Republican counterpoint on this one, as it looks that way from the News 2 broadcast. I'm sure you'll have an influx of rabid Bushie readers, frothing at the mouth for their daily barking orders. Please lead them astray, preferably into the proverbial dog house.
